Lord, how many are my enemies! So many have risen up against me!
Many say about me, “God will never save him!” Pause
But you, Lord, are my shield and my glory; you make me walk with my head held high.
I cry out to you, O Lord, with a loud voice; and from your holy mountain you answer me.
I lie down and sleep, and I wake up again, for the Lord sustains me.
I will not be afraid of the thousands who surround me and rise up against me.
Arise, O Lord! Save me, my God! Break the jaws of all my enemies; shatter the teeth of the wicked!
Salvation comes from the Lord! Your blessing is upon your people! Pause
Comment:
Psalm 3 is a morning prayer that expresses the psalmist’s unshakable trust in God’s power and protection. Even in the face of a multitude of adversaries and the mockery of the wicked, the psalmist finds security and refuge in the Lord. He recognizes that it is God who sustains him, allowing him to sleep peacefully, without fear. The psalmist cries out to God for salvation and justice, confident that the Lord is able to defeat his enemies. This Psalm teaches us about the importance of trusting in God in the midst of adversity and reminds us that He is our source of strength and protection. Like the psalmist, we can find peace and security in God, regardless of the circumstances around us.
