1 Hear, O Lord, my words; listen to my cry.
2 Hear my cry for help, my King and my God, for it is to you that I pray.
3 De manhã, Senhor, ouves a minha voz; de manhã te apresento a minha oração e aguardo com esperança.
4 You are not a God who takes pleasure in injustice; evil cannot dwell with you.
5 The arrogant are not accepted in your presence; you hate all who do evil.
6 He destroys those who speak lies; the Lord detests the murderer and the deceiver.
7 Por causa da tua grande misericórdia, eu entrarei em tua casa; com temor me inclinarei para o teu santo templo.
8 O Lord, guide me in your righteousness because of my enemies; make your way straight before me.
9 For there is no truth in their mouths; their hearts are wicked; their throats are open graves; with their tongues they deceive craftily.
10 Declare them guilty, O God! Let them fall by their own schemes. Because of their many transgressions, drive them out, for they have rebelled against you.
11 But may all who take refuge in you rejoice; may they sing for joy forever! Spread your protection over them, so that those who love you may exult with joy.
12 For you, Lord, bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.

O Salmo 5 é uma oração matinal que clama por proteção contra os ímpios e injustos. O salmista busca a justiça de Deus e Sua orientação em meio aos desafios enfrentados. Ele reconhece a santidade de Deus e Sua aversão ao mal, pedindo para ser guiado em retidão. Este Salmo nos lembra da importância de buscar a Deus em todas as circunstâncias da vida, confiando em Sua justiça para derrotar os ímpios e proteger os justos. Ele também nos encoraja a encontrar alegria e refúgio na presença de Deus, confiando em Sua proteção como um escudo ao nosso redor. Assim como o salmista, podemos encontrar força e segurança ao nos refugiarmos em Deus e confiarmos em Sua justiça para nos guiar.
