Who was Abijah?
Abijah was a king of Judah, a descendant of David, who reigned for three years. He is mentioned in the Bible in the books of 1 Kings and 2 Chronicles, where his story is told in detail. Abijah was the son of Rehoboam and the grandson of Solomon, and his accession to the throne was marked by conflicts and battles against King Jeroboam of Israel.
Ascension to the throne
Abijah became king of Judah after the death of his father, Rehoboam. He faced a series of challenges early in his reign, including a rebellion by the ten tribes of Israel led by Jeroboam.
